| Bose Corporation has developed a multiple tube stent test instrument for fatigue & durability testing of coated stents and drug eluting stents for regulatory approval. This system provides a new standard of performance resulting in expedited time to market and improved testing accuracy. Through a combination of new and existing proprietary Bose® technologies, the instrument allows a user to test twelve specimens simultaneously, provides increased distention uniformity along the stent profile and combines high-frequency performance with the necessary precision for particle capture. This computer controlled and programmable instrument is capable of controlled pulsatile radial distension of stents in silicone, latex, or other elastomeric mock arteries, or in straight tubes or tubes with other physiologically relevant configurations. Regulatory bodies have been concerned with the potential for coatings to shed particulate that may embolize and cause thrombosis. This has led to a requirement that all coated stents be tested in relevant configurations with relevant levels of pulsatile distension. The duration of the coating durability test can be as short as a simulated month, or what is required for a 10-year simulated life (400 million cycles).
